Jonathan Aroesty, President and Founder of Playback Innovations, LLC

Jonathan has over 25 years experience in television production. Throughout his career, Jon has been involved in hundreds of television shows, including annual awards shows such as The Academy Awards, The Emmy Awards and The Grammy Awards. A decade ago, Jon was instrumental in successfully changing the way video playbacks are performed for live and taped productions. He introduced the use of digital non-linear technology, by overseeing the development of specialized software programs for use in conjunction with digital playback servers. More recently, as the leader of Playback Innovations, LLC he has once again revolutionized the industry by realizing the promise of the tapeless environment within television productions. Playback Innovations, LLC is now at the forefront of this industry. Jon resides in Los Angeles with his wife Margie and their two children, Kaeley and Justin.

 

Russ Srole, Director of Software Development

Russ is a 35 year veteran in the businesses of film production, post-production and product design. He  has designed linear and non-linear editors as well as network delay software. Russ has been involved in unique and challenging projects requiring the design of front-end software for post-production DDRs as well as  sophisticated tools for syncing telecine dailies. His experience with broadcast machine control projects, including VTR's, DDR's and switchers is an invaluable resource to Playback Innovations.  As Director of Software Development, Russ draws on his wealth of experience to provide Playback Innovations' clients with tools that take advantage of the latest cutting edge technologies. Russ is a graduate of the UCLA Film School and resides in California.

 

Chris Dwinell, Senior Software Engineer

Chris began his television career working for Warner Brothers Studios as a graphics artist where he was able to combine programming expertise along with graphic design skills to create interactive motion graphics for television and film. He later went on to work at Point.360's IVC Digital Film Center where his services were utilized in their data center. There, he created several software utilities including a digital film registration utility and a SAN performance profiler. Chris later moved on to work with Telepictures Productions in 2008 during the migration of The Ellen DeGeneres Show from an SD to an HD workflow. While functioning as a media manager, he also created two utilities to be used by the show's production team: an application used to display the current state of digital recording devices and a software based on-set podium prompter for the producer to communicate with the host.

 

Eric Quillen, Operations Manager

Eric is a recent graduate of the Georgia Tech Business School, and matriculated the Masters program at UCLA in Computer Science. Eric brings a diverse skill set to the company with a business organizational background that is coupled with an IT know-how.
