Atlanta, Ga., October 18, 2008 Playback Innovations is pleased to announce the successful implementation of a tapeless workflow for the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards. All of the on set and air playback elements for the show were controlled by Playback Innovations' Pi Control software. Additionally, the line cut and camera iso's of the show were captured using Pi Capture Software. The on site logistics were managed by Jon Aroesty of Playback Innovations who created IMX clips using EVS XT[2] video servers and transported them as files to LAB 601 post in Atlanta. The files were imported directly into Avid Media Composers and immediately made available for editing without the need to digitize multiple reels of video tape. This resulted in significant time savings for director Glenn Weiss in the post process.
"Although it offers many benefits, the move to a completely tapeless workflow is daunting for many.", said Playback Innovations founder Jon Aroesty "Our goal at Playback Innovations is to make the change as smooth and seamless as possible for our clients".
